We align our mission with the mission Jesus gave to His disciples in Matthew 28:19-20. To go make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things Christ has commanded. So in essence, our mission is simply to love God, and lead others to Him.
Our Fellowship
We had our beginnings as a house church dedicated to building stronger love between saints whose past fellowship experiences, were not in line with the will of God. Evangelist George Hanson Huff and Brother Jovan McCoy, laboring in love for the saints, planted the Citywide Ekklesia of Christ. Over 9 years God has sustained us from our small beginnings of 13 members, to now requiring to meet in a much more accommodating community center, where we have been able to extend the reach of the gospel message. Citywide Ekklesia (the Greek word for “assembly” that the English Bible translates as “church“), accepts our covenant relationship, to pursue Christ-likeness in every way. Understanding that we have been “called out” by the Gospel, from the ways of this world, and have chosen to be dedicated to Christ and His headship. This calling is of first importance. In order to become Christ-like you must first learn of Him. We want to obey the Father like Christ, serve like Christ, love like Christ, pray like Christ, be Holy like Christ, and please the Father like Christ. The Apostle Paul writes to the Colossians reminding them of who and what we preach. He says in verse 28 of Chapter 1, “Him (Christ) we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” With this goal in mind we persevere daily in our desire to pursue Christ-likeness in every way.
As the Lord’s church, our unity with others must be in the one faith by the word of God (Ephesian 4:3-6). Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and not the minister, elders, deacons, or any voted or appointed board of individuals (Ephesians 1:22-23). We are a nondenominational and undenominational fellowship with no central headquarters, governing body, or leader. We rely on the revelation of God’s word in all we say and do. We do not follow the contemporary teachings of man but the documented teaching of Jesus Christ.
